A. Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Matriculation Examination (10th) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate
  • From Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Government of India
  • Candidates awarded grades must convert them to marks as per the conversion formula approved by respective board and upload a copy of the officially promulgated conversion formula

B. Age Limit

  • Born between 01 July 2004 and 31 December 2008 (both dates inclusive)
  • As per official notification — no relaxation details mentioned

C. Marital Status

  • Only unmarried male and unmarried female candidates are eligible
  • Candidates must give a certificate of being unmarried at the time of enrolment
  • Marriage during the 4-year tenure is strictly prohibited
  • Candidate will be dismissed from service if found married or already married

D. Musical Ability

Candidates must have:

  • Proficiency and aptitude for music
  • Accuracy in tempo, pitch, and ability to sing one complete song
  • Practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin
  • Proficiency in tuning of instrument, matching unknown notes, prepared piece
  • Sight reading of Indian Classical / Tabulature / Staff Notation
  • Performance of Scale / Raaga / Taala
  • Basic theory of Indian or International music

E. Instruments Allowed

Candidates must perform on one or more of:

  • Keyboard instruments
  • String instruments
  • Wind instruments
  • Any other instrument of Indian or foreign origin

⚠️ Candidates performing on indefinite pitch instruments such as Jazz Drum set, Bass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals, Non-Chromatic instruments like bugle, or monotone instruments that produce only one note or drone are NOT eligible.

F. Musical Experience Certificate

  • Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on wind instruments require a musical experience certificate from any recognised musical institute or organisation of repute
  • Candidates performing western notation or western music on wind instruments require a certificate of minimum initial grade from international boards such as Trinity College of Music London or Royal School of Music London
  • Other candidates must submit certificates of participation / awards from various events

Selection will be based on performance in Music Ability Test. The complete process is:

Stage 1 — Shortlisting Based on marks in Matriculation examination and valid music certificates (Degree / Diploma / Grade / Certificate of Competitions). Shortlisting will be on all India merit basis.

Note: If multiple candidates have the same percentage in matriculation, candidates with an earlier date of birth (having fewer chances for recruitment) will be given priority in shortlisting.”

Stage 2 — Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Stage 3 — Written Examination

  • 50 MCQ questions — 1 mark each — Total 50 marks
  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Bilingual: Hindi and English
  • Sections: Science & Mathematics and General Awareness
  • Standard: Class 10th syllabus
  • Minimum qualifying: 13 marks out of 50 (25%)

Stage 4 — Music Ability Test (MAT)

Stage 5 — Recruitment Medical Examination

  • Appeal against findings within 5 days at designated Military Hospital only
  • No further review or appeal permitted after that

Stage 6 — Final Merit List

  • Based on Music Ability Test performance
  • Compiled on all India basis

Step 5 — Submit Application Submit before 26 April 2026. Avoid submitting multiple applications — candidature will be cancelled.

Step 6 — Download Admit Card Call Up Letter cum Admit Card (CLAC) will be uploaded on joinindiannavy.gov.in by 10 May 2026. No admit cards will be sent by post.
