Age Limit

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess one of the following:
- Master’s Degree in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) and a consistently good academic record, OR
- Ph.D. / D.Litt. / M.Phil. / M.Litt. with at least 50% marks in the Master’s Degree
Relaxation for SC/ST candidates: SC and ST candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Physical Education with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
Knowledge of Odia (Mandatory)
Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Odia, satisfied through any one of the following:
- Passed M.E. School Examination with Oriya as a language subject; OR
- Passed High School Certificate (or equivalent) with Oriya as the medium of examination in a non-language subject; OR
- Passed Odia Language subject in the final examination of Class-VII or above; OR
- Passed a test in Oriya at M.E. standard conducted by the Department of School & Mass Education / Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Examination Fee
- General/Other categories: Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only), payable online
- SC/ST candidates: Exempted from fee payment
- Fees are refundable only to candidates who appear in all papers of the Written Examination
- Refunds are processed to the original payment mode (Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, Net Banking, Wallet, etc.)
- Applications submitted without the requisite fee (except SC/ST) will be treated as incomplete and summarily rejected
- Candidates must furnish accurate bank details (Account Number, IFSC Code, Account Holder Name, Bank Branch) in case refunds via the original payment mode fail due to technical issues

- Shortlisting for Interview: Based on marks in the Written Exam (out of 500), candidates are shortlisted for Viva-Voce in order of merit:
- For vacancies up to 02 → 10 candidates called
- For vacancies between 03 to 05 → 15 candidates called
- Final Merit List: Prepared strictly on aggregate marks (Written + Viva-Voce, out of 550), equal to the number of advertised vacancies.

Other Eligibility Conditions
- Must be a citizen of India
- Must be of good character, sound mental and physical health, and free from organic defects
- Candidates with more than one living spouse (or women married to a man with a living spouse) are ineligible unless exempted by the State Government
- Government servants may apply but must inform their Head of Department in writing and produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of document verification — it is advised to obtain this well in advance
- Candidates debarred by OPSC, any other State PSC, or UPSC for a specified period are not eligible during that period
- Only candidates meeting all eligibility conditions by the closing date of application will be considered
- Name-change candidates must submit gazette notification + newspaper publication proof
- No candidate will be appointed without medical clearance confirming freedom from communicable disease or disqualifying physical/mental defects

Important Post Conditions
- The posts are Temporary but likely to become Permanent
- Probation period: 2 years from date of joining (extendable at Government discretion)
- Appointment can be terminated with one month’s notice from either side, without assigning reasons
- All appointees on/after 1st January 2005 are covered under the Contributory Pension Scheme (not the old pension rules)
- Submission of an NPS application is mandatory for all recommended candidates at the time of joining
