Essential Qualification & Eligibility
For the Post of Professor (Pay Level-14)
Candidates must meet either of the following criteria:
Eligibility A:
- Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline
- Minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals
- Total research score of 120 as per Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulation No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18th July 2018
- Minimum 10 years of teaching experience in a university or college as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions, with evidence of having successfully guided a doctoral candidate
Eligibility B:
- An outstanding professional holding a Ph.D. from any academic institution / industry, having made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned discipline, supported by documentary evidence
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the relevant field
For the Post of Associate Professor (Pay Level-13A)
- Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline
- Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject from an Indian University or equivalent foreign degree
- Relaxation: SC/ST/Non-Creamy Layer OBC/Differently Abled candidates — 50% marks at Master’s level (as per Clause 3.5 of UGC Notification 18th July 2018)
- 5% relaxation also applicable to Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s degree prior to 19 September 1991
- Minimum 8 years of teaching and/or research experience at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent, with at least 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals
- Total research score of 75 as per Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulation No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18th July 2018
For the Post of Assistant Professor (Pay Level-10)
Eligibility A:
- Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject from an Indian University or equivalent degree from a foreign university
- Relaxation: SC/ST/Non-Creamy Layer OBC/Differently Abled candidates — 50% marks (as per UGC Notification 18th July 2018, Clause 3.4)
- 5% relaxation also applicable to Ph.D. holders who completed Master’s prior to 19 September 1991 (Clause 3.5)
- Must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or SLET/SET, OR
- Holds a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D.) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 — such candidates are exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfilling all five prescribed conditions
Conditions for NET/SLET/SET exemption via Ph.D.:
- Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
- Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners
- Open viva voce conducted
- At least two research papers published based on Ph.D. work (at least one in a refereed journal)
- At least two papers presented at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-funded conferences or seminars
Eligibility B:
- Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings (QS / THE / ARWU of Shanghai Jiao Tong University) at any time
