East Coast Railway Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 1599 Slots

East Coast Railway Recruitment 2026 has been announced by the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), East Coast Railway (ECoR), Bhubaneswar for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. A total of 1,599 Act Apprentice slots are available for the training year 2026–27 across various Divisions and Workshops under East Coast Railway.

Eligible candidates who have completed their Matriculation (10th standard) along with an ITI certificate in relevant trades are invited to submit their applications online. The online application process starts on 26/08/2026 and will remain active until 15/09/2026.

Candidates selected for these apprenticeship slots will undergo training in designated trades across various units, including the Carriage Repair Workshop in Mancheswar (Bhubaneswar), Khurda Road Division, Sambalpur Division, Rayagada Division, and East Coast Railway Headquarters.

  • General Trades: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class examination under 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.
  • Technical Qualification: Candidates must possess an ITI Certificate in the relevant trade affiliated to NCVT/SCVT.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology): Candidates must have passed 12th Class (10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in both 10th and 12th standard.
  • Secretarial Assistant (Stenography) & COPA: Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT (or Broad-based basic training under Centre of Excellence scheme for COPA).
  • Note: Candidates whose 10th or ITI results are awaited, or candidates who have failed ITI, are not eligible. Higher technical qualification holders like Diploma and B.Tech/Engineering Graduates are also not eligible for this notification.

  • Age Range: 15 to 24 years as on the closing date (15/09/2026).
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST candidates: Upper age relaxed by 5 years.
    • OBC candidates: Upper age relaxed by 3 years.
    • PwBD candidates: Upper age relaxed by 10 years.
    • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Additional 10 years to the extent of defense service rendered plus 3 years (minimum 6 months continuous service required).
Experience
  • No prior work experience is required.
Other Eligibility Conditions
  • Aadhaar Requirement: Candidates must possess a valid 12-digit Aadhaar Card (or 28-digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID) and enter it during registration.
  • Medical Fitness: Shortlisted candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-F) signed by a Government Authorized Gazetted Doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon) during Document Verification.

Note: Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during their training period. No hostel accommodation will be provided by the Railway Administration.


The selection of candidates for apprenticeship training will be strictly based on a merit list:

  • Merit Preparation: Prepared solely on the basis of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (10th Class), provided the candidate has secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Total marks of all subjects listed in the mark sheet will be taken into account (CGPA must be converted to actual percentage).
  • Tie-Breaking: If candidates have equal marks, preference will be given to the older candidate. If birth dates are also identical, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier will be preferred.
  • No Test/Interview: There will be no written test or viva/interview.
  • Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification at the Headquarters of East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar, followed by verification of original documents and medical fitness.

  • SC / ST / PwBD / Women Candidates: Exempted (No Fee).
  • All Other Candidates (UR/OBC/EWS): ₹100/- (Non-Refundable).

  • Candidates can apply for only one Division/Workshop; multiple submissions for the same trade using different details will lead to summary rejection.

  • Apprenticeship training does not confer any right or guarantee of permanent employment in Railway service. However, course completed Act Apprentices (CCAA) are given preference up to 20% of vacancies in Level-1 open market direct recruitments by RRB/RRC.
