Candidates must fulfil either of the following two qualification routes:
Route I:
- a. B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute or University, OR B.Sc. (Post-Certificate)/Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/University.
- b. Registered as Nurse & Midwife with State/Indian Nursing Council.
OR
Route II:
- a. Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/Board or Council.
- b. Registered as Nurse & Midwife in State/Indian Nursing Council.
- c. Two years’ experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital, acquired after obtaining the essential qualification (i.e., after completing residency period, declaration of result, and registration with the State/Indian Nursing Council).

- 18 to 30 years for all AIIMS, as on the closing date of online registration (13.08.2026), subject to applicable age relaxation.

Pay Scale: Level 07 in the Pay Matrix (Pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs. 9,300–34,800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600/-), Group-B, plus usual allowances admissible to Central Government servants of similar status at the respective posting city.

How to Apply — Step by Step
- Visit the official AIIMS Examination website: www.aiimsexams.ac.in
- Applicants registered under OTR (One Time Registration) or from any previous AIIMS examination must apply using their old ID/OTR registration; using a different registration ID will lead to rejection.
- Fill the online application form carefully — corrections are largely not permitted after the specified stage, and no correction is entertained via email or letter.
- Upload photo, signature, and thumb impression strictly as per the guidelines in the “Upload Image Instructions.”
- Pay the prescribed application fee online through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.
- Candidates currently employed in Government/Semi-Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies/Government-funded institutions (including contractual employees) must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by 18.08.2026 (5:00 PM); failure to do so leads to cancellation of candidature.
- No physical documents, including the application form, need to be sent by post — any physical submission will be treated as null and void. However, candidates should retain a printed copy of the application form and payment proof for their records.

Selection Process — Exam Pattern & Scheme
NORCET-11 is conducted in two stages, both as Computer Based Tests (CBT):
Stage I: NORCET Preliminary (Qualifying only, not used for final merit)
- Duration: 90 minutes
- 100 MCQs (100 marks): 20 questions on General Knowledge & Aptitude + 80 questions from the Nursing syllabus at essential qualification level
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer
- Paper divided into 5 sections of 18 minutes each (20 questions per section); once a section’s time lapses, it cannot be revisited
- Qualifying marks: UR/EWS – 50 percentile; OBC – 45 percentile; SC/ST – 40 percentile; with additional 5 percentile relaxation for PWBD across categories
- Candidates equal to 5 times the total seats per category will be shortlisted for Stage II (plus all qualified PWBD candidates and tie cases)
Stage II: NORCET Mains (Determines final merit)
- Duration: 180 minutes
- 160 MCQs (160 marks), case-scenario based, covering the entire Nursing syllabus at essential qualification level
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer
- Paper divided into 4 sections of 45 minutes each (40 questions per section); sectional time-lock applies as in Stage I
- Qualifying marks: UR/EWS – 50%; OBC – 45%; SC/ST – 40%; with additional 5% relaxation for PWBD across categories
Tie-breaking order (Stage II): fewer wrong answers in Mains → higher marks in Preliminary → fewer wrong answers in Preliminary → older candidate by date of birth → alphabetical order of name.
Syllabus: Based on the educational qualification and experience as per the eligibility criteria — i.e., Nursing subjects taught at the essential qualification (B.Sc./GNM) level.
Choice & Allocation: After qualifying, candidates exercise institute/post choices and preferences; seat allocation is made strictly in order of merit as per choices filled. There is generally only one round of allocation and no waiting list.
